javascript - IE11 in Document mode 5 doesn't fire "onresize" event in when scaling (zooming), any site -

if real bug, knows workaround deal it? or maybe i'm doing somethig wrong?

steps reproduce:

open site (for example, http://www.microsoft.com) in ie11 in f12 developer tools emulation set document mode 5 in f12 developer tools console run window.onresize = function(){ console.log("onresize fired"); } try scale page (for example, using ctrl+ mouse wheel).

expected result: "onresize fired" printed in console.

actual resut: no messages in console.

there couple of things consider:

first, console supported in document modes later ie9 standards mode. because test focused on ie5 (quirks) mode, alert or someelement.innerhtml( "message" ) may more effective.

the resize event has behavioral subtleties effort balance differences between behavior required standards against legacy (proprietary) ie behavior. details, see remarks in linked reference page.

based on info available, i'd phone call "as designed" behavior (or perhaps "as intended"), rather "buggy" behavior.

for specific situation, you'll want @ effect that's beingness accomplished , see if there's different way trigger it. alternatively, seek ie enterprise (emie) mode. (rumor has it improve job of emulating older document modes. ymmv.)

hope helps...
