catalina - In tomcat, what is catalina_home and why we use it? -

iam new tomcat knew in java, while setting tomcat utilize set java_home jdk path wanted knew catalina_home , why need setup in catalina.sh?

tomcat composed of number of components, including tomcat jsp engine , other connectors, main component catalina, provides implementation of servlet specification. when starting tomcat server, it's catalina starting. variable 'catalina_home' configuration property stores location of catalina files.

these configuration files in tomcat's "$catalina_base/conf" directory:

catalina.policy catalina.properties logging.properties content.xml server.xml tomcat-users.xml web.xml
